Townhall Diaries: Reflections from Our All Hands Session

When vision, tech, and human stories come together, our All Hands Townhall reminds us that building something bigger, together - is worth every minute.

All Hands Townhall

Building Together, Growing Together

The Gathering

At Cognix, we gathered for an All Hands Sessions - storytelling, inspiration, tech deep dive, with a dash of humor (and yes, some samosas in the rain at the end). It was supposed to start at 5 and wrap up by 6. Instead, we kicked off around 5:15 and went well past 6:30. A late-evening session always comes with its own challenges, but what unfolded reminded us why these gatherings matter - they are never just about updates; they are about vision, connection, and the stories that keep us moving forward together.

The Mood & the Moment

Outside, the rain played its rhythm; inside, the AC kept shifting from too cold to too hot, as if mirroring our own moods. The post-work tiredness was real, and the quiet thought of "why after 6?" crossed a few minds. But as the first speaker took the stage, the room slowly came alive - tiredness turned into curiosity, and then into a feeling of energy and momentum.

Clarity Before Action

Vishanta Rayamajhi (CEO) set the tone with a reminder about focusing on problems rather than rushing to solutions. He shared a story about handling requirements - how we often try to jump to answers, but real progress comes when we ask the right questions.

He also emphasized the 5 Whys method - going deeper into the root cause instead of stopping at surface fixes. The question wasn't just "What's the issue?" but "Why does it exist, and why again, until the root is exposed?"

🎯 Rebranding Journey: From Waterflow Technology to Cognix Insights. "Cognix" stands for cognition and intelligence, while "Insights" is about the clarity we bring. Together, the new name reflects a brand that thinks deeply and acts smartly.

We also welcomed three new members into the fold, making it clear that this townhall wasn't only about looking back — it was also about looking forward.

Accountability Starts with Clear, Purposeful Goals

After setting the vision, the focus moved to execution. SMART goals were presented not just as a checklist, but as a way to take real ownership. It's not enough to finish tasks — what matters is the impact and results we create.

Praful Thapa (Team Lead and Project Manager) also highlighted personal growth and mentorship: learning, improving, and leaning on guidance helps us achieve more. The key message was clear: plan with clarity, act with purpose, and own outcomes — making every goal count.

Doing It Right: Best Practices in Action

Building on ownership and accountability, Madhav Silwal (Head of Engineering) emphasized engineering discipline. Great development isn't just solving problems — it's solving them the right way. He highlighted architecture, scalable design, clean code, testing, and code reviews, showing how structured thinking turns ideas into robust, maintainable solutions.

He also stressed modular design, documentation, and efficient workflows, explaining how these practices make collaboration smoother and projects easier to scale. The key takeaway: discipline, structure, and thoughtful engineering make creativity count.

Turning Challenges into Wins

Then came Nitesh Ghimire (Senior DevSecOps Engineer), who turned what could have been a dry technical talk into a story everyone remembered. He shared how the team approached a tricky problem, weaving in an example from View Tower that had everyone laughing and nodding.

His session highlighted infrastructure and architecture decisions that made the solution possible, showing how thoughtful design and planning bring real results. His delivery was fun, engaging, and easy to follow, keeping everyone connected. And to be honest, it was a relief: before his turn, things were starting to feel a little too "tech textbook."

Seeing the Bigger Picture: Marketing Insights

After discussing projects done with purpose, SMART goals, best practices, solid architecture, and DevOps, marketing was framed as the next step — showing how work translates into meaningful outcomes and brand impact.

Aayush Tiwari (Head of Marketing) brought the lens of marketing, highlighting how even the company's name carries meaning inside and outside. He stressed the power of internal marketing — sharing success stories, celebrating small wins, and creating narratives to motivate the team. At the same time, he emphasized external marketing, showing how clear communication and thoughtful project presentation to clients strengthens the brand and drives growth.

He also spoke about the culture we need to build — one that values collaboration, learning, accountability, and celebrating excellence, helping the company grow smarter, faster, and together.

Vision, Technology, and Collaboration

Sandeep Jalan wrapped up the session by sharing a clear and powerful vision. He reminded everyone that Naasa is not just a broker company, but a tech-driven organization, where innovation and collaboration are key. Just like Google started with simplicity, every product should keep user experience effortless, even if the technology behind it is complex.

He emphasized that successful outcomes come from teamwork, aligning product, tech, and marketing, and fostering a culture where collaboration and thoughtful design drive both innovation and client satisfaction.

Recognitions & Achievements

Before closing, Vishanta Rayamajhi took a moment to recognize some outstanding contributions:

Prakash Shrestha

Blaze backend transformation and seamless collaboration on other projects, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent delivery across the team.

Milan Karki

Exceptional QA work on Blaze and KYC— known for challenging developers, catching edge cases, and ensuring nothing slipped through the cracks.

Nitesh Ghimire

Tackling complex infrastructure problems and turning them into real solutions, showing persistence and creativity in solving challenges that inspired the whole team.

Moments like these reminded everyone that while the spotlight shines for a minute, the hard work and dedication behind it spans months of unseen effort.

High Tea in the Rain

Finally, it was time for High Tea — with samosa, cookies, tea, and the gentle fall of rain outside. The weather was moody, but the company, conversations, and shared moments made it all worthwhile.

Final Thoughts

Yes, the townhall stretched past 6 PM, and yes, some faces showed post-work tiredness. But between the vision, SMART goals, best practices, architecture, DevOps, marketing, culture, problem-solving stories, recognitions, and High Tea, it was clear: this wasn't just another session.

It was a reminder that we're not just solving tickets or writing code. We're building something bigger — together, step by step, question by question, and sometimes, samosa by samosa. Every goal, every solution, and every collaboration adds to the team, culture, and impact we create.

Team collaboration and celebration
